IMEC
IMEC is a world-leading independent research center in nano- electronics and digital technology. Headquartered in Belgium, IMEC has distributed R&D groups in the Netherlands, Taiwan, USA, China, and Japan. IMEC realized a revenue of 585 million euro in 2018 with a team of more than 4000 people, and continues to grow. IMEC has ample expertise in collaborative research projects with industry and academia, covering bilateral and multilateral collaboration. IMEC participates to multiple public funded projects at regional, national, European and global level. The IoT-BE group of IMEC is a front-runner in innovative chip, platform and system prototyping to enable a fully intuitive internet of things, with a specific focus on sensing, connectivity and processing at the extreme edge. We cover RFIC/SoC prototyping of mm-wave radar sensors, and multi-sensor data-fusion platform and machine learning algorithm development. We enable reasoning and decision-making (AI) at the edge by developing disruptive neuromorphic hardware and software solutions. These activities target multiple application domains such as autonomous vehicles, factory of the future, smart living and smart logistics. Our connectivity activities focus on 6G, and covers system-level exploration, >100GHz RFIC prototyping, HW/SW optimization and wireless prototype demonstration for indoor, outdoor, access networks and backhauling. Our team consists of more than 40 researchers, including about 10 PhD/postdoc students and several industrial residents. IoT-BE research results annually in more than 50 publications in top international journals and conference proceedings, several scientific awards, around 10 new patent idea filings, and 3 PhD graduates. Our annual turnover is close to €7 million.
